The Hard Drive Crisis – How to Mitigate Risk and Stay Afloat

In response to the devastating impact of the flooding in Thailand on the hard drive market, DTx Inc partnered with industry experts from Avnet Inc. and Intel Corporation to educate electronics designers and manufacturers about the current and future state of the market as well as risk mitigation strategies.

Attendee Scott Hayne, Global Supply Manager at Spacelabs Heathcare remarked, “The presentation was helpful in that it explained the full magnitude of the impact of the disaster on the hard drive industry and its’ key players”.  Another participant in the Semiconductor industry commented, “[This was] just an excellent presentation - well researched and good alternative solutions.”

Nancy Moren, Storage Business Development Manager at Avnet Inc. addressed the current conditions in Thailand and the projected timeline for recovery as well as the impact of the flooding on the current and future hard drive market.  Nancy is an expert in the area of storage technology with over 20 years of experience in the industry.

Dan Butler, Vice President of Engineering at DTx presented a structured approach to developing both short and long term risk mitigation strategies and an in-depth analysis of design considerations.

Finally, David Blunden, Applications Engineer, Intel NVM Solutions Group shared with the audience an overview of how to evaluate and qualify alternative solid state technology solutions.
