Joining engineering forces between Intel and Contec, the teams are actively pursuing the development of a new form factor design that incorporates Intel’s new pluggable hardware component into a Contec embedded computer design.
Continuing Intel’s leadership in PC technology innovation, Intel announced at CES2017 a new credit card size computer – the Intel® Compute Card – enabling a new way to purchase, and then upgrade, the core PC functionality at the center of 100s of million PC based products. The Intel Compute Card provides all the functionality of a laptop/desktop in a single small, low power interchangeable product with a standard size and interface.
With the core computing and wireless functions encapsulated in the Intel Compute Card, product designers are given the freedom and flexibility to focus on I/O interfaces and product design that is optimal for the application and customer usage. With this flexibility, the Intel Compute Card presents unlimited possibilities – from docking stations to whiteboard projectors, digital signage to embedded solutions, and many other applications. The Intel Compute Card is the optimal solution to power anything from entry-level to full featured host devices.
In 2012 Contec, a system integrator, became an Associate Member of the Intel® Internet of Things (IoT) Solution Alliance. Members of this elite group of leading solution and service providers collaborate closely with Intel and benefit from early access to roadmaps, test platforms, and design support. The Solution Engineering Team at Contec is fully engaged with Intel creating a low power, high performance, small form factor box computer to support industrial control and automation solutions as an easy to use and efficient application for factory automation systems.
The product is being designed to bring a new level of performance and expandability to customers using fanless, rugged box computers. The Intel Compute Card supports a product that scales from entry level to the performance level while maintaining a system power level that supports usage with Solar/battery or 802.3 at POE.
